LOTUS NOTES

Lotus Notes is a full-featured e-mail and scheduling program. In networked environments, it allows users to collaboratively and interactively schedule meetings as well as view and edit the calendars and schedules of others. Additionally, Notes users can creates "out of office" notices to automatically respond to e-mail received while they are away. Notes also lets "road warriors" synchronize the information on their portable computers with their mailbox on an office server. Notes is highly customizable, allowing the interface to be tailored to the work needs - and personality - of each user.

Important Note: Because we do not have a Notes server in our main office, we can only offer Lotus Notes classes, using our "Classroom In A Box", at a location where a Notes server is accessible.

Introduction To Notes

"I was not sure what to expect and didn't think the class would help me, but I was wrong."

Overview

This half-day class emphasizes Notes' e-mail capabilities. In addition to sending and receiving e-mail, participants learn how to change the appearance of the text in their messages, choose what type of "letterhead" they would like to use, and attach additional files to their messages. Organizational tools are highlighted, as students learn how to file their mail messages and create mailing lists. Information detailing the processes that go on behind the curtain to get mail from point A to point B helps explain why problems sometimes occur and how to avoid them.

Adding to the basic e-mail topics from the introductory class, students learn how to respond automatically to mail when they are out of the office, fax documents directly from Notes and archive old e-mail messages. USING NOTES ON A LAPTOP COMPUTER

"It is a course with a lot of valuable information. I hope more people become aware of it."

Overview

For those who use a laptop computer, Lotus Notes offers the ability to work offline, composing and reading e-mail while disconnected and then sending mail the next time a network connection is available. In addition, Notes can synchronize your Calendar and To Do items between a server and your laptop, giving you the ability to disconnect from the network while still maintaining an accurate and up-to-date schedule and task list. This half-day overview class allows Notes users to travel without feeling disconnected.
