Understand And Master Your Applications
The key to "helping people help themselves" is education and training, a service INT Information Systems has provided to its clients since 1984. We help our students reach new plateaus of understanding and performance with the computer applications they need to use everyday. Use the tabs above to review specific information about each class. Contact us if you would like to receive an information packet, including printed samples of our classes.
We know you are faced with an array of computer training options and the obvious question is "Why choose INT instead of a larger, more well-known company?"
- Our small staff of trainers has long-term experience.
We are not a training company with a revolving-door training staff. INT has only three trainers, each with extensive experience. With over 6 years as an applications trainer, Matt McDonald, a Microsoft Office Specialist Master Instructor, is our junior staff member. Jennifer Hare has been with INT since 1994 and has a degree in education. Bruce Miles, the company's president and lead trainer, has been training computer users for over 20 years. Our classes are taught not by somebody who simply knows the material, but somebody who knows the program. Extensive product knowledge instills confidence in our students that they are learning from somebody with significant skills using and teaching the application.
- We write our own classes.
Our classes are responsive to our students because we build them in-house. When we learn a new, useful trick or solve a difficult and interesting problem for a client, we can immediately add that to future sessions of the class if we feel other students will benefit from it. We do not have to wait for a dedicated training department to update the class materials, nor are we beholden to the topics selected by someone completely separate from our business. As a result, many of our classes include helpful tips, tricks and techniques that you are not likely to see in classes offered by other providers. We also have the option of creating entire classes devoted to specific tools or topics, such as Mastering: Excel Charts and Mastering: Excel PivotTables, if we feel that such classes can be of use to our clients.
- Our objective is to meet the student's objectives.
One of our foremost concerns is that each student in our classes leave at the end of the day with their questions answered. Because of the level of expertise we have with each application, it is unusual that a student would ask a question to which we do not know the answer. However, this does happen and when it does, we work to ensure that we get the answer, to the extent that we will research it after class and send the answer to the student via e-mail if necessary. In the past, we've even designed simple, custom add-ins and templates for students in order to address their in-class questions. Because training is not the only arm of our business, we realize that this benefits us as much as it does the client, because we learn something new in the process, which we can then pass on to future students and clients.
- We can provide classes in a variety of locations.
Although we're a small company, through us you'll have access to multiple classrooms in the Central Ohio area. We maintain two permanent twelve-seat computer labs on the east side of Columbus and a third lab in Granville, Ohio. Additionally, we can offer classes at the location of your choice with our twelve-seat "classroom in a box".
- We can develop custom training programs.
Because we develop our own classes, we are well-prepared to create custom classes for unique, proprietary or in-house applications. In the process of creating the class, we gain the necessary expertise to teach it at a high level. And, once the initial training run is complete, we can sell you the rights to the training materials for your own use in the future. Of course, we can also provide the training in an ongoing capacity if you prefer.
- We are not affiliated or partnered with any software vendor or manufacturer.
Some of our customers have asked us why we aren't a Microsoft training partner or why our materials do not display a Microsoft "seal of approval". The answer is quite simple: We value the independence of our classes and make a conscious effort to remain free of external pressure to change our materials. We can speak honestly about the shortcomings of the products we teach our students to use, while avoiding partner-mandated coverage of the "latest and greatest" features that our students aren't likely to care about. Our independence lets us cover tips, tricks and techniques that others can not because they have to adhere to a slate of pre-approved topics from their training partners. Our loyalty is to our customers, not outside vendors and manufacturers.
